Fri Throw

Fri is designed by Anderssen & Voll as a reinterpretation of the traditional Norwegian table runner, or løper. The designers retain the small-scale repetition characteristic of the original textile while changing its scale, use and colour. The result takes a familiar piece of Norwegian domestic weaving and gives its underlying pattern a new context.

At the mill in Røros, they weave each wool throw from Norwegian lambswool, building the pattern directly into the textile. The jacquard construction allows colour and pattern to reverse from one side to the other, while brushing lifts the wool fibres to give the finished throw a softer, fuller surface.
Røros Tweed has produced wool textiles in Røros since 1940, and the same material and weaving knowledge continues to inform how each throw is made today.
