The series began in 2016 following a research project at Hancock Shaker Village in Massachusetts. The Shaker approach to making, based on economy, clarity and purposeful construction, informed the designers' thinking. That restraint is carried into Isak through a pattern that relies on order rather than decoration.

Each cushion is supplied with an inner cushion made in Norway and filled with duck down and feathers.
