Myrull Throw

Myrull is designed by Karen Staver. The pattern takes the familiar structure of plaid and combines it with colours drawn from the hillside landscape surrounding the Røros mill. Rather than representing the landscape pictorially, the reference enters through the palette, allowing colour to shift the character of an established woven grid.

At the mill in Røros, they weave each wool throw from Norwegian lambswool, building the pattern directly into the textile. The jacquard construction allows colour and pattern to reverse from one side to the other, while brushing lifts the wool fibres to give the finished throw a softer, fuller surface.
Røros Tweed has produced wool textiles in Røros since 1940, and the same material and weaving knowledge continues to inform how each throw is made today.
